Is Beige the New White?
Over the last few seasons, I have noticed a shift away from crisp white and towards softer shades of cream, ivory and beige.
I see it in the collections when I am buying, but I also see it every day in our boutiques. My customers are naturally drawn to these softer tones and often find them easier and more flattering to wear.
Pure white can sometimes feel a little harsh against the skin, while cream, off-white and beige bring warmth to the complexion. They give you the same clean, fresh effect as white, but in a gentler and often more elegant way.
This observation inspired my new collection. It is filled with beautiful shades of cream, ivory, sand and beige. They are easy colours that feel light for spring and bring a quiet elegance to everyday dressing.
A Softer Alternative to White
White will always be a classic, but it is no longer the only neutral we turn to when we want to brighten a wardrobe.
Cream and off-white have warmer undertones, which can be especially flattering close to the face. A soft cream blouse can make the skin look warmer, while a bright white shirt can sometimes create too much contrast.
Beige has the same versatility as white, but it feels softer and more relaxed. It is polished without looking formal and elegant without feeling as though you have tried too hard.
These neutral shades have also become a lot more available over a wide range of clothes than previously. I now always carry quite a few pieces in the cream, beige colour range.
The New Alternative to White Pants
This change is also noticeable with pants and jeans.
For many years, crisp white jeans were the obvious choice for spring and summer. They still have their place, but somehow a pair of wide-leg pants in cream, ecru or soft beige now feels more elegant and modern. The softer colour is more muted and forgiving than bright white. It also works beautifully with the relaxed shapes we are wearing now. A fluid wide leg, a slightly cropped shape or a softly structured cotton pant can look polished while remaining very comfortable.
Wear them with a cream blouse for a monochrome look, a navy shirt for a timeless French combination, or add a brighter colour when you want more contrast. They are just as versatile as white pants, but the overall effect feels softer, more current and a little more sophisticated.
Beige Is Never Boring
Beige sometimes has a reputation for being safe or plain, but I think the opposite is true.
When the cut, fabric and details are beautiful, a neutral colour allows you to notice them even more. The shape of a sleeve, the texture of a knit, the movement of a skirt or the detail of a collar becomes the focus.
This is where “classic with a twist” really comes into its own. An off-white blouse with an interesting sleeve, wide-leg pants in soft beige or a cream dress with a beautiful shape can feel much more special than a louder piece.
Neutral colours may be quiet, but they don’t have to disappear.

The Art of Tonal Dressing
One of my favourite ways to wear these colours is to mix several neutral shades in the same outfit.
Cream does not need to match beige perfectly. In fact, an outfit often looks more interesting when the tones are slightly different. Try an ivory blouse with sand-coloured pants, or an off-white top with a beige skirt and a caramel bag.
The variation creates depth while keeping the overall look simple and elegant.
Texture is also important when dressing in one colour family. Combining crisp cotton, soft knitwear, linen or denim stops a neutral outfit from feeling flat. It is the contrast between the fabrics that gives the look personality.
Easy Colours to Wear Your Way
Cream, off-white and beige are incredibly easy to combine with the colours already in your wardrobe.
Wear them with denim for a relaxed everyday look, with navy for a timeless French combination, or with black when you want more contrast. Camel and chocolate bring warmth, while a touch of red adds energy and makes the whole outfit feel more modern.
You don’t need to dress in beige from head to toe. Sometimes one soft neutral piece is enough to lighten an outfit and give it a fresh spring feeling.
A cream blouse can soften dark jeans. Beige pants can make a coloured top easier to wear. An off-white jacket can bring together almost everything in your wardrobe.
The New Everyday Neutral
For me, the appeal of beige is that it fits so naturally into real life.
These tones are calm, versatile and easy to wear, but they still make an outfit feel considered. They work for a relaxed day with sneakers or sandals, but they can also look beautifully polished with loafers, jewellery and a structured bag.
This collection is my edit of the softer side of white: cream, ivory, off-white and beige pieces chosen to flatter the complexion and bring lightness to your spring wardrobe.
Because sometimes the most beautiful colours are not the ones that demand attention. They are the ones that make you look and feel your best.
This spring, beige is the new white.
Prune xx
