The French Autumn Colour Palette

As we move into autumn, I always find myself drawn to a softer, richer colour palette.

Not louder. Not trend-driven.
Just deeper, warmer… and infinitely more elegant.

This season at Volange, I’ve curated a colour story that feels both grounding and sophisticated; the kind of tones that make getting dressed effortless.

Because when the colours are right, everything else follows.

Burgundy: The New Neutral

Burgundy or bordeaux, as we would say in France,  is the colour that quietly replaces black.

It’s rich, flattering, and instantly elevates even the simplest outfit.

I love it worn:

- as a soft knit paired with denim

- in a tailored jacket layered over cream tones

- or as a statement piece that carries the entire look

It adds depth without trying too hard,  exactly the kind of effortless sophistication I always look for.

Creams & Beiges: The Foundation of Everything

If there is one palette that defines French style, it’s this.

They are also the easiest to wear.

Layering different shades together creates a look that feels: calm, elevated and quietly luxurious

It’s never about matching perfectly,  it’s about harmony.

Camel & Tan: Warmth with Structure

Camel and tan bring warmth into the wardrobe and structure.

These are the colours that make an outfit feel “finished”.

Whether it’s a beautifully cut coat, a belt that pulls everything together or a soft knit layered over a blouse.

Camel tones have a way of elevating even the most casual pieces.

Chocolate: The Understated Alternative to Black

Softer than black, but just as versatile.

It pairs beautifully with: cream and beige for a tonal look, burgundy for depth or even denim for something more relaxed

It’s subtle, but incredibly chic.

Navy: Forever, Always

And then, of course, there is navy.

A constant in every French wardrobe and in every Volange collection.

It’s dependable, elegant, and endlessly versatile.

I often think of navy as the anchor.

It grounds softer tones, balances richer colours and always brings a sense of ease

Bringing it all together

What I love most about this palette is how seamlessly everything works together.

Nothing feels forced.
Nothing feels overdone.

Just a wardrobe that: mixes effortlessly, layers beautifully and evolves with you through the season

Because in the end, it’s not about having more, it’s about having pieces that simply work.

This collection has been designed with exactly that in mind.

Pieces you can wear now, layer later, and reach for again and again.
