Spring 2020 at Volange

French Fashion Trends for Spring 2020

Each season is an opportunity for a fresh start, particularly in Spring. The change in weather also means a new collection of handpicked items from Paris brought to Volange. When planning a new collection, I always research the new trends for the coming season, looking for inspiration in magazines, runway shows, and the streets of Paris. Once I have a good sense of what the styles are for the upcoming season, I curate my collection by selecting what I personally prefer as well as what I think women in Sydney will love to wear to embody French fashion.

The Looks We're Loving for Spring

The 1970's
As the weather gets warmer here in Australia, you'll see a resurgence in looks inspired by the 70's, with a more modern feel.
Bohemian dresses and long skirts are a must, worn with a belt and western boots for an edgy addition.

Denim

When putting this spring's collection together I saw lots of love for denim. Worn together in multiple washes as a head-to-toe look or mixed with neutral pieces, denim is an effortless and versatile wardrobe staple. We love how denim is nearly a neutral, making it fun to accessorize and mix and match.

Lace and Crochet
Just because Coachella is cancelled this year, doesn't mean we're not seeing festival-inspired outfits. Lace, crochet, and broderie anglaise are certainly having a moment in Spring 2020. With dresses and blouses dominating this style, the vintage and feminine vibe is becoming increasingly popular.

High-waisted pants and jumpsuits
This season we're seeing a movement away from skinny styles to wider legs. B
alloon-shaped pants of the '80's sit above the hips, with pleats and lots of volume, making them cute yet practical. Jumpsuits offer another comfortable option with wide legs and cinched waist to provide shape.

The Volange Touch

Out of the 10-12 trends that stand out each season, I will only keep about 5 or 6 that I find suitable and wearable.
Each year, we bring our spring collection into the store in July. While it might seem early and a bit cold,
there can still be some amazing sunny days. This allows our customers to mix some new colourful pieces into their Winter wardrobe to give it a lift, and to get excited for warmer weather fashion.

Come visit us at our Bronte and Paddington shops. From now on we will receive new pieces every week until January, and they will get lighter as the temperatures rise.
