The Parisian Edit: How Not to Look Like a Tourist in Europe
One thing that always strikes me when I arrive in Paris is how incredibly well women are dressed. Not necessarily in luxury designer clothes or head-to-toe trends, but simply with taste. French women have a way of looking polished, feminine and effortlessly put together without appearing like they spent hours thinking about it.
What makes Parisian style so inspiring is that it feels real and wearable. Women in Paris are constantly walking, catching the métro, working, meeting friends for lunch or sitting for hours on café terraces, so their style needs to be comfortable as much as chic. The secret is not about owning more clothes, it is about knowing how to put simple pieces together beautifully.
There is always an ease to the way Parisiennes dress. A soft blouse tucked casually into relaxed denim. A cardigan thrown over the shoulders. A beautiful belt to finish an outfit. Gold jewellery worn every day, even with the simplest white shirt. Nothing feels too perfect, too trendy or too “done,” and that is exactly what makes it so elegant.
French women also understand the importance of proportions and fabrics. Clothes move beautifully, layering feels natural and outfits always seem to strike the perfect balance between relaxed and refined. Even casual dressing in Paris still feels polished.
This new collection was inspired by exactly that spirit: timeless pieces designed to mix effortlessly together and bring a little of that understated French elegance into everyday life.
The cotton blouse
The ultimate Parisian staple. Feminine, breathable and endlessly chic, a beautiful cotton blouse instantly elevates even the simplest outfit. Worn casually tucked into wide-leg jeans with rolled-up sleeves, it perfectly captures that effortless French look.
The jeans
Denim remains at the heart of Parisian style, but the way French women wear it has evolved. They are moving away from overly fitted styles and embracing softer, more relaxed silhouettes that feel effortless, modern and infinitely more chic. The perfect pair of jeans in Paris is one that feels comfortable yet polished enough to wear from morning coffee to dinner in the city.
The soft jackets & cardigans
Layering is one of the secrets of French style. A soft jacket or classic cardigan instantly adds polish while keeping an outfit relaxed and wearable. Often draped over the shoulders or layered casually over a blouse, they give that effortless “finished” touch.
The belts & statement jewellery
Parisiennes know that accessories are what make simple outfits memorable. A beautiful leather belt transforms denim instantly, while gold jewellery, statement earrings or layered bangles add warmth, personality and elegance without ever feeling excessive.
The fine knits for evening
As temperatures cool in the evening, fine knit jumpers become an essential part of French dressing. Worn with relaxed denim, fluid pants or layered over the shoulders, they feel understated yet incredibly chic for dinners and evenings out.
The comfortable pants — not yoga pants
French women value comfort, but rarely through activewear worn all day. Instead, they opt for beautifully cut relaxed pants, soft tailoring or fluid wide-leg trousers that feel comfortable while still looking refined and stylish.
When selecting pieces for Volange, I always keep versatility, comfort and effortless style in mind. I want every piece to feel easy to wear, easy to style and timeless enough to work beautifully from day to evening. Especially for those of you travelling to Europe soon, I love helping you create a wardrobe that feels polished and feminine without looking overly “touristy” or overthought. The beauty of French style has never been about wearing expensive clothes, it is about choosing the right pieces, combining them with taste and wearing them with confidence and ease.
Thank you so much for reading and for continuing to support my little Parisian world here in Sydney.
